Visitors On Campus
Board Rule It is important that all visitors be made aware of and adhere to BOARD RULES 1265 and 2002 which govern the activities of outsiders.
The presence of any parent, community person, organization representative(s), concerned groups, or other individuals or groups, regardless of affiliation, requires the principal's consent and approval. Pupils, school personnel, classroom, special programs, or other activities, regardless of their funding source, are not subject to visitation, observations or any other external attention without the school administrator's approval.
- Visitors are not permitted in classrooms without direct approval of an administrator.
- All visitors must obtain a visitor’s permit and sign the visitors’ book at the main entrance.
- Teachers should notify an administrator or campus security of unauthorized visitors.
- Procedures for visitations by parents/guardians are shared with them at the beginning of the year.
- All visitors are directed to Main Office where the purpose of their visit is ascertained.
- Parents must give 24 hours notice to see teacher, unless the teacher agrees to an earlier time.
- Parents may wait in the Main Office to meet teachers for conference.
- Former students may only go to the Counseling Office for transcripts. They are not allowed on campus to visit teachers during the school day.
- Any teacher having a guest speaker must fill out a Guest Speaker Notification Form and submit to administration as soon as possible (Click here to download a copy of this form).
- Student observers must clear through the training institutions and must present proper credentials to the administrator in charge of career/college programs.
Community Contacts Any requests coming from the community to teachers, clubs, or groups, or any contacts those teachers may desire to make with the community or its related agencies should be referred to the Principal for approval.
Volunteers Be aware that
- Volunteers are not District employees and, as such, are not eligible for any compensation or employment benefits. They must, however, follow current LAUSD requirements for volunteers. If you have a potential volunteer, contact the administrator to obtain the current policies and procedures.
- Volunteers do not have any tenure and may be terminated at the will of the appointing authority.
- Before assigning a volunteer one should be satisfied that the applicant relates favorably to students, community, parents and staff. Volunteers must have a negative TB test.
There is no limitation on the period of time that a volunteer may serve in assisting the school.
