Organizing a New Club
If it can be demonstrated enough students express sincere interest in inaugurating and maintaining a new club and if faculty sponsorship can be secured, and if certain formal requirements are met, it is possible to organize a new club within the student body framework.  The following procedures should be followed to form a new club:
  1. Know at least ten (10) students who are interested in joining the club.  It is suggested that a student petition be circulated or sign-up sheet be posted in the Student Leadership classroom.  Publicize that a new club is being formed.
  2. Find a teacher, not already an advisor of a club, who is willing to be the advisor or ask the student activity director to help you find one.
  3. Return the completed application for organization of a new club and the proposed membership sheet to the Student Council classroom.
  4. These members, or a selected group of them, meet with the advisor to write a constitution.

The constitution of a school club consists of a brief statement of the aims and purposes of the organization.  A “boilerplate” constitution can be procured from the Assistant Principal or Leadership Adviser and may be tailored to the needs of the prospective new club.
  5. The Student Leadership must approve the constitution.  If approved, the Assistant Principal and the Student Body President sign it.
  6. Organize student store account, date of meetings, length of meetings, etc.
  7. Advertise club (poster, bulletin, etc.) for at least one week prior to first meeting.
  8. Official recognition will be given by presenting a notification to the club, but the constitution and membership must remain on file.  The charter will legal so long as the club works within the bounds of the original purpose.  If students fail to remain active in the club, club membership drops below the minimum requirement, and/or the club fails to continue benefiting the school, the club will remain dormant but can be reactivated if steps 1 through 4 are completed.
Extracurricular Activities and Eligibility
For a student to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities (those outside the scope of the school day), s/he must remain eligible by maintaining a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average and by showing substantial progress toward graduation.  Eligibility is established at ten week (midterm) and semester grading periods.  Any questions regarding student eligibility can be referred to an administrator or the athletic director.
