Conduct at Assemblies
- Teachers are expected to attend assemblies with their students and to supervise their students closely.
- In the case of “all-school” assemblies, the Assistant Principal will make specific assignments in specified places of the assembly area so that adequate supervision and special student needs can be addressed.
- The classroom teacher will help instruct the members of the class before they leave for the assembly regarding courtesy to be shown, seating assignment, and doors and aisles to be used on entering and leaving the auditorium.
Assembly Planning Procedures
- Sponsoring group meets with sponsor to determine program.
- Calendar requests are submitted for the Master Calendar. All requests must be submitted well in advance of the event.
- The Assistant Principal in charge of Master Calendar approves date.
- Sponsors must obtain the activity form from the Assistant Principal and resubmit with the appropriate signatures to the Assistant Principal.
- Program is submitted to Assistant Principal in charge of assemblies for approval.
- Special Activity Planning Sheet must be completed prior to the activity date to clear with all personnel involved. The planning sheet must indicate any equipment needed and include a floor plan if a special set-up is needed.
- It is then decided which bell schedule will be used if the program is to be an all-school or an invitational type of assembly.
- If outside participants are giving the program, the sponsor will appoint a reception committee.
- A time schedule is worked out so that the program is contained within the time limits. Copies are given to every person concerned.
- The assistant principal and sponsor must make a final check of arrangements.
- Personnel assigned by the assistant principal should be present at each assembly to cope with any emergencies. See the School Administrative Assistant regarding class coverage.
