Acceptable Reasons to Appeal an Absence

Long Term Or Chronic Illness
These must be registered in the Health Office and paperwork to
indicate doctor visits or hospitalization must be attached. Please see
the Office Directory button on the home page for the telephone
extension of the Health Office.

Death Or Serious Illness Of Others
A note from the parent with some form of documentation, or other
information such as an obituary or a funeral card should be attached.

School Activity Absences
These absences will automatically be excused for field trips, games,
pep rallies and testing. Sponsors for these activities will issue
team/activity lists to teachers, or circulate trip slips indicating periods to
be missed. Sponsors will submit a list of participating students to the
Attendance Office.

College Interviews Or Visits
Permission for these activities must be applied for in advance from the
Narbonne College Counselor, notes from the college admissions office
or registration materials from the college must be attached.

Court Appearance
Documentation from the Clerk of the Court will be necessary.

Religious Holidays
A note from the parent, registration materials from camps or
conventions, or a program from a service must be attached.

Confidential Reasons
Parents may request to meet with an administrator to present
documentation.

Error In Teacher Or Office Reporting
Students, parents, teachers and Attendance Office personnel must
share responsibility for accurate record keeping.
